North Carolina, Ya Te Fragaste

Dear North Carolina,

You don't care about yourself and it's messing everything up.

You aren't doing anything on here:

You recently started testing the needy for drugs.
Really, North Carolina? You actually drug test people who need public assistance . . .

to eat.

Really?

If this was about you really caring, NC, you'd test the folks whose decisions ACTUALLY destroy entire communities- the ones who pose the most risk to the most lives:

Examples?
Sure, North "I'm doing everything in my power to not call you out your name" Carolina.
For starters, elected and appointed officials, law enforcement, public school administrators... Anyone with institutional power over "free", returning and incarcerated populations would be among the first, frequent and randomly checked populations.
If the drug tests were about seeking wellness for yourself, you'd give the powerful and rich case management , a social worker, a parole officers--Overseers.

You'd surveil the rich and powerful, disrupt their peace, police their neighborhoods to make them scared to relax where they rest and especially where they congregate...incarcerate them.
Kill them with impunity sometimes?
Well, that's how things work now. It's not what I want for anyone least of all cash poor folks aka "the salt of the earth" surviving on $7.25 who ask for public assistance to get food. It's the way it is because you let some folks who don't care about you take your power.

North Carolina, I'm not calling you out, I'm calling you in:

"Poverty shaming and not confronting injustice and the greatest threats to our collective lives is the opposite of caring; It's violence." (Me)

Stop hitting yourself. Why are you hitting yourself...

You need to get the toxins out of your politics so we can breathe better and live.

Listen NC, Pat McCrory's departure from the governor's office is going to be great for your self-care. Just make sure elect a new Governor who really loves your people more than money and corporate relationships. I know it's going to be hard with gerrymandering and all but looks like you're getting intervention on that.

You used to be in great shape, North Carolina. Remember the Clean Smokestacks Act? You were a model of selfcare then...kinda.

You can get it back with a lot of voter education, fair voting districts, large and diverse voter turn out, organized constituent bases that hold the electeds accountable with votes, participatory budgeting and direct action.

Get some rest, NC. Just thinking about it is part of the work but it's not enough.

We start fresh in the morning...

you little shit.

I love you.
